Pottery Experience in Shelburne
Spend a weekend by the sea, working with clay, making pottery and memories that last.
Spend a weekend by the sea, working with clay, making pottery and memories that last.
Imagine spending a weekend by the sea creating pottery - and memories - in a historic barn studio built in 1783 in Shelburne, Nova Scotia.
No experience required at all.
You’ll arrive Friday evening, settle into the barn studio, glaze a mug I’ve made especially for you.
Spend Saturday (from 10-4) learning the wheel and hand building, enjoying lunch together, wandering the waterfront.
Sunday morning you can choose one more session of either the wheel or hand building. With our amazing weekend completed at noon, you can choose to head to the fabulous farmer’s/artisan market, grab something for lunch at their barbeque, then head home at your leisure.
You’ll head home with new skills, wonderful memories, and pottery that will remind you of the beautiful weekend every time you use it.
Your experience includes:
Working alongside a local potter in a historic seaside barn studio, with gentle guided instruction throughout the weekend
Friday evening glazing session, learning about colour, glazing styles and technique and finishing your own mug (made by me in advance and ready to take home Sunday)
On Saturday, hands-on introduction on the pottery wheel, try your hand (literally!) at throwing in a supportive, fun and low-pressure space
Afternoon hand building session, create piece using texture, forms and step by step instruction. This could be a plate, bowl, planter, vase etc.
A delicious locally prepared lunch in the barn for Saturday lunch. (Allergies? Not a problem at all, just please inform before arrival.)
Time to stretch a bit after lunch and take a brief walk along Shelburne’s historic harbour
A completed mug to take home and choose one additional piece of your own to be professionally finished and shipped to you. (shipping of one piece included in cost) If you fall in love with more than one piece, arrangements can be made to have it professionally trimmed, glazed, fired and shipped for an additional fee.
To ensure everyone gets plenty of individual instruction, each weekend is limited to just 6 participants.
